JANUARY NEWSLETTER

What’s For Dinner???

Turkey Stew

¼ cup butter

1 onion diced

¼ cup flour

1 teaspoon poultry seasoning

½ teaspoon dried rosemary

5 cups turkey broth

3 cups baby potatoes, halved

2 carrots cut into 1” chunks

2 ribs celery cut into 1” chunks

1 bay leaf

2-3 cups cooked turkey

2/3 cup heavy cream

1/3 cup frozen green beans

Salt and pepper to taste

Heat butter in a large pot over medium heat and cook onions until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add flour and seasonings and cook 1 minute more. Stir in broth a bit at a time whisking until smooth after each addition. Add potatoes, carrots, celery and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer and cook covered for 18 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in turkey and cream and simmer an additional 5 minutes uncovered. Stir in peas, discard bay leaf, season with salt and pepper. Let rest 2-3 minutes to heat the peas.

What’s For Dinner???

Leftover Turkey Noodle Soup

2 Tablespoons olive oil

1 Onion finely chopped

1 Carrot peeled and chopped

1 Celery rib chopped

8 Cups turkey or chicken broth

3 Cups cooked turkey chopped or shredded

½ teaspoon thyme

1 Bay leaf

8 oz wide egg noodles

Salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot heat olive oil over medium high heat and add onion, carrots and celery and cook until softened about 5 minutes. Stir in broth, turkey, thyme and bay leaf and bring to a simmer. Cook until vegetables are tender, about 15 minutes. Stir in noodles and cook until tender, about 5 minutes longer. Remove from heat and remove bay leaf then season with salt and pepper.

Did you know……..

• Switch ceiling fans to winter rotation setting (usually clockwise) makes the room warmer.

• Turn off outside water taps (usually in basement) to prevent water freezing in tap.

What’s For Dinner??? Crockpot Chili l lb. hamburger meat l jar spaghetti sauce 1 onion, chopped 1 cup carrots, chopped 1 cup corn 1 cup celery, chopped 1 bell pepper (red or green) 1 can kidney beans 1 can pork & beans Garlic to taste Chili powder to taste Brown hamburger and drain, mix all ingredients in crockpot and cook on low 6-8 hours. Did you know……..

• It’s time to change the filter in your furnace. Changing the filter regularly will cut down on heat bills and provide better heat flow.

• Regular cleaning of your dryer filter can prevent fires and help your dryer run more efficiently.
